Did you know the Wispa bar was born in Newcastle? And yet, unlike its aggressively mediocre chocolate offspring, this is a city bursting with vigour, dynamism and right good LAFFS, like. The sparkling jewel of the North East, Newcastle is a non-stop party with infamously affable locals (who, if Geordie Shore is anything to go by, may piss the bed comparatively more than your standard Brit -- but that’s by the by). Continence issues aside, you’ll never be short of restaurants, museums and galleries, plus a variety of neighbourhoods to choose from: former industrial strongholds have been transformed through recent generation, and the city centre is home to notable listed architecture. Heaton, Gosforth, Jesmond and the suburbian likes have fast become some of the most city’s desirable spots.
